Q & A
Here are a few questions and answers, if you have any questions which are not shown here then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Q. Can you tell me a bit about yourselves?
A. Peter Holmes has many years experience of manufacturing gates, railings and handrails. Mainly fabricating from mild steel. He also has a lot of fitting experience.
Leah Holmes helps out at York Gates, mainly with admin, quotes and accounts.
Dominic Holmes decided to spread his wings, after completing his minimum time serving in The Royal Navy, he is now happy working as an engineer for a large sweets manufacturer, where adults speak like children! He does occasionally help us out when needed.
Q. What are your work ethics and assurances?
A. We all take pride in our work. If we come across a problem or make a mistake we take responsibility and correct immediately. We are honest, trustworthy and approachable. We believe in good communication at all times. We offer a no-quibble manufacturers guarantee against any items we fit for one year.
Q. There are so many different designs available, what options do you offer?
A. We can manufacture any design, to fit any size opening or height. Have a look on our gallery page for ideas, use an internet search engine or take note of any gates you like while you are out and about.. If you know what you want, draw us a sketch, we can fabricate from a drawing.
Q. How good are the materials you use?
A. We only use good quality materials, we use graded steels, quality components, local suppliers where possible and good quality coatings. We know how important it is for a customer to receive not only a good service but also a quality product which should last them many years.
Q. What are your payment terms?
A. We ask for payment in full when accepting our quotation. We may at our discretion ask for a deposit of 50% when accepting our quotation and the balance to be paid prior to us fitting the items. We accept cash, bank transfers or secure payment through our website (see the payments and deposits item in our shop section, secure payments from most credit or debit cards through Paypal). We also accept cheques, but due to our local bank closing and having to use the one in town (no parking) we prefer other forms of payment.
Q. What days and hours are you open?
A. You can email or text us us any time or day, you can phone us any day between 8 am and 8 pm, if we are unable to answer you can leave us a message ( I never answer my phone when driving). We are more than happy to visit you at your convenience to measure and discuss any work you may want. If you would like to visit our workshop then please contact us first as we can often be out on site fitting etc.
Q. Do you have a guard dog?
A. Following the loss of our faithful guard dog Missie we now have a new guard dog. Her name is Patsi and she loves spending her days at the workshop.
